Of the 500 or so ski fields in Japan, just a mere 2.5% can boast of being at a height of 2,000 m or more. The awesome quality of the snow created by this rare environment captivates powder freaks from all over the world, and once experienced, EVERYONE talks about it. That's why you hear them saying things like “The quality of the snow is so different!”
Visitors to Shiga Kogen Yakebitaiyama Ski Field are captivated by the sheer overwhelming scale and, of trail, the famous platinum powder snow. Long cruising distances of up to 2,760 meters and trail layouts that take full advantage of the natural terrain are also attractive. There are two gondolas and three lifts. If you want to head straight to the 2,000 meter summit you can get there in one go by gondola. The Olympic Trail, which has hosted numerous international competitions, including the 1998 Nagano Winter Olympics, is a challenge that advanced skiers should try at least once.
